The theme for Juneteenth 2023 is "Human Liberation Now!". We are continuing the long history of Juneteenth celebrations dating back to June 19, 1865, when Union Major General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, to deliver a formal announcement ensuring all enslaved people were freed!

BAY LOVE will be performing our feel good tunes, with a focus on peace, freedom and unity (with audience participation), at a gathering to view a private screening and panel discussion of the inspirational film “The Rebellious Life of Mrs. Rosa Parks.” The event takes place from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in San Luis Obispo.

This is a free event, but seating is limited, so please reserve movie tickets in advance by sending an email indicating how many tickets you would like to reserve to: naacpslocty@gmail.com

Be sure to attend the Juneteenth SLO Celebration, Resource Fair and Freedom Lounge on Saturday June 17th from 11:00 - 5:00pm at Mission Plaza in San Luis Obispo as well! Together, we will promote the mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to secure political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights in order to eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.
